Indeed.com Wins Best Job Search Site
Indeed.com took top honors among job search sites in a holiday poll over at Lifehacker. The straightforward search site ranked no. 1--Monster, Careerbuilder, LinkedIn, HotJobs and Craigslist rounded out the top six.
Lifehacker says of the site: "Indeed isn't a full-service job search site where you post your resume and hope for calls from employers, but if you know what kind of work you're looking for, its impressive meta-search (complete with email alerts and RSS feeds) is worth a look."
You can see all of the site's job tools here
Indeed pulls listings from job sites, company sites, newspapers and associations. You'll be glad to know that Indeed reports "872,086 new jobs in the last 7 days."
The site may still be new to many job seekers, but it was launched in 2004. If you're curious about its ownership--"Indeed is privately held, with institutional investors including The New York Times Company, Allen & Company and Union Square Ventures," according to the site.

InterSearch UK Press release 2008 executive club
InterSearch UK Press release 2008 executive club
19/12/2008
Imagine the scene…
You’ve spend hours putting together your CV (let’s face it – it was 10 years ago since you last needed one!), you spend days trawling through job adverts and recruitment companies to find suitable opportunities, until finally, with anticipation, hope and on occasions a wing and a prayer you send it off.
And then.....?
Well nothing, you hear absolutely nothing! Not even a ‘thanks but no thanks’, or a thank you for your time and effort, just possibly a minimal acknowledgement to say the least.
It’s a common complaint held against most recruitment companies; just a sheer lack of candidate care. Which is why InterSearch in the UK, a global executive search firm, has always had this objective – to keep focussing on candidate care and to treat executive candidates exactly how they should be treated.
InterSearch in the UK believes that candidates deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy; after all don’t candidates become future clients?
InterSearch in the UK believes that they deserve more and to help achieve this objective they have enhanced their care of candidates with the recent launch of an on-line ‘Executive club’.
Paul Holmes, Managing Director, InterSearch in the UK says ‘It is no secret that Recruitment firms fill up their database with candidates in the anticipation of securing new clients, which is unfair and misleading to candidates. It’s also extremely rare that firms have the courtesy to reject their applications, which is the most common complaint that our candidates let us know about.’ He goes on to say ‘it’s all very well and good adding people onto your database, but with no after care how can recruiters be certain they are still actively looking for jobs, and even if the perfect role for them became available, finding that candidate again would be like looking for a needle in a haystack; it’s both misleading to candidates and clients.
‘One of the ways we have looked to ensure we value our candidates is by launching our exclusive invitation only, ‘Executive Club’. The InterSearch Executive Club is designed to give Members exclusive access to a premier executive portal, enabling them to develop business networks, their careers and business knowledge and understanding. The Executive Club helps candidates to focus on building a valuable company and a more rewarding career whilst helping to enhance their quality of life – in short we want to reward and acknowledge candidates who send us their details, and this is one of the ways we hope to achieve this’.

IRC Recruitment, global alliance of executive search firms, congratulates two member firms on making the BusinessWeek List of the Most Influential Headhunters in the World.
In a November release of Business Week listing the most influential headhunters in the world, two of our member firms were showcased:
Hofirek Consulting: headquartered in the Czech Republic and Slovakia with offices in Karlovy Vary, Prague, Ostrava, Hradec Kralove, Brno, and Bratislava.
And
Madison MacArthur: headquartered in Toronto, Canada with satellite offices in New York and Michigan.
BusinessWeek has introduced an exclusive database of the world's most influential headhunters, with comprehensive information on 100 of the top global executive recruiters. So what is it that separates these executive recruiters from the rest? A number of factors were considered in selecting these 100, including their individual reputations; their years of headhunting experience; the global scope of their recruiting practices; their accessibility and responsiveness; their high visibility within the client markets they serve; the recognition they enjoy within their firms and/or global executive search communities. It is important to note that their individual reputations are often the most important reason that corporations engage these headhunters.
