True Headhunters would never advertise their jobs on a Linked in discussion board!

As Headhunters it is our role to make direct approaches to specific individuals that work for our clients competitors. We add value by heavily researching and targeting senior people that are NOT actively looking for a career move and would therefore be unreachable by any other means for our clients. These headhunted candidates are content in their current positions and are adding substantial value to their employers organisations so they have no reason to actively look for a career change.

Headhunters will directly approach and inform target candidates of interesting opportunities which they can decline or pursue. These people can bring great success, valuable market knowledge and they also already understand the products/ solutions and require no training so it’s a really clever method for companies to find the best people in their industry. Furthermore Headhunters will offer a truly consultative approach and coach all parties through the process by offering their detailed knowledge and experience and management of both parties expectations. It is an extremely confidential, delicate and focused process that needs to be handled by true experts. Also it will provide candidates with a great perception of a hiring firm that uses professional Headhunters. In the wrong hands a senior hiring project can cause long term and extremely serious problems.

Advertising on the other hand targets candidates that are actively looking for change and so this approach would never be used by a true Headhunter. Charlatans who profess to being Headhunters and then advertise their jobs are giving a bad name to the rest of the industry. They are not providing a thorough and consultative method and they are just being lazy and reactive. Advertising is a great and cost effective method for hiring a certain level of candidate or a number of similar roles. However for strategic and key appointments then Headhunters with a strong track record who guarantee their work are a true investment for any organisation looking to hire the best people.

Indeed.com releases Industry Trends to help job seekers and employers navigate the job market

Indeed.com announced the release of Industry Trends, a unique view of job posting and job seeker trends in 12 major industries (www.indeed.com/jobtrends/industry). As the most comprehensive search engine for jobs, with over 12 million unique visitors per month in the US, Indeed's Industry Trends provide an unrivaled perspective on the job market nationwide. Indeed's data show that compared with 12 months ago the number of job postings in the US has declined in all industries, while Education and Healthcare have declined the least.

Industry Trends are a picture of job numbers and job seeker traffic in each industry - including top job titles, keyword searches and cities - and their changes over the last year. Industry Trends will help job seekers target their job searches more effectively and improve their chances of getting hired in today's competitive job market. It will also help employers manage their recruitment advertising campaigns, giving them a better understanding of the supply and demand for jobs in their industry.

Healthcare is the largest industry, with 582,000 job postings in January 2009, followed by Information Technology with 396,000 postings. In the last 12 months, every industry experienced a decline in total job postings and the worst hit industries were Real Estate (down 58%), Accounting (down 53%), Financial Services (down 48%) and Hospitality (down 48%). The least affected were Education and Healthcare, with 9% and 8% declines, respectively.

All industries showed strong growth in job seeker traffic. Education, Construction, and Healthcare were the leaders, each of which saw a doubling of clicks in the last 12 months.

Global executive search firm DHR International (DHR) has announced its expansion into India with the setting up of an office in Mumbai. Concurrent with the expansion, Suchet Narain has joined the firm as Managing Director.

Global executive search firm DHR International (DHR) has announced its expansion into India with the setting up of an office in Mumbai. Concurrent with the expansion, Suchet Narain has joined the firm as Managing Director. He has over two decades of post qualification experience with him.
